Whatever turns up, grab it and do it. And heartily!
This is your last and only chance at it,
For there’s neither work to do nor thoughts to think
In the company of the dead, where you’re most certainly headed.
Ecclesiastes 9:10 (The Message)
I found myself telling stories of lost people, but also of perfect Saturdays with loved ones, teenage broken hearts, songs praising Jesus, and even one song about rain. These songs contained the same depth of any of my work, despite being mandated by the challenge. I didn't need to wait to be inspired or have a song drop into my lap. I just needed to write, and the act of writing continually makes me a better writer.
The takeaway for you, dear reader, is this: Don't wait around to get started with whatever God is calling you to do. God may love like lightning, but inspiration does not. If you are called to write poetry, write poetry. If you are called to dance, then dance. If you are called to paint, paint. If you are called to build houses, then tomorrow begin working to build those houses. Opportunity isn't going to pass you by, because it's standing right in front of you. Seize the opportunity and God will bless your efforts. -DK
